Welcome to Chateau Guildford

As merchants of fine wines and spirits since 1974, Chateau Guildford has seen many changes in the liquor industry. At that time, Penfolds Grange was sold in 12 packs at $10/bottle, the best selling sparkling wines were Minchinbury White Seal and Seppelts Great Western and domestic credit cards were a thing of the future. Much has changed since then.

Over the years, the buildings and business that are Chateau Guildford have evolved extensively including two major extensions to the original building, renovations to the Cellar, Tasting Room, main shop area and the upgrading of the carpark. One of the most recent and exciting changes at Chateau Guildford has been the development of www.chateauguildford.com.au. Online customers are now provided with a facility to view a selection of the many Premium and Super Premiums wines that are stored at the historic Guildford site.

This website presents information on Wineries, Wine Varieties and Styles, Current Releases and Treasures from the Chateau Guildford Cellar.

The website also provides an avenue for direct email contact with Alan Dinneen for information on additional products available online or at the Store. Chateau Guildford now has the ability to offer quality Australian and Imported products for sale online, with the option of door-to-door delivery. Once again, Chateau Guildford is moving with the times, and evolving as a business which believes in offering the highest level of customer service.

Meet Alan Dinneen

With over 35 years experience in liquor retail, Alan Dinneen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Chateau Guildford. Originally purchased by the Dinneen family in 1974, Alan had been continually involved in the evolution of the business, including the two extensions to the original building, numerous renovations and the development of this website for Premium and Super Premium wines and spirits.

Alan developed his passion for wine during his days at the University of WA, and over time he has increased his wine knowledge with tastings, judging and travelling extensively through Australian and International wine growing regions.

As an external student at Roseworthy Agricultural College from 1986 to 1990 he received an Associate Diploma in Wine Marketing and won the inaugural Wine Marketing Award from the College.

A natural progression of his wine studies saw Alan become involved in wine judging in the 1990’s. Since then he has judged extensively at local and national Wine Shows including Royal Melbourne, Royal Perth, Royal Hobart, Rutherglen, Cowra and the National Riesling Challenge in Canberra. Other wine show experiences include the Qantas Wine Show of WA at Mt Barker, Margaret River Wine Show, the Sheraton Wine Awards, Swan Valley Wine Show, Geographe, Timbertown, Perth Hills Wine Shows and many more.
